Premium Stonewash

Premium Stonewash

DESCRIPTION

Stonewash is a distinctly different flat finish that provides a sandstone type texture, which is subtle, but still able to hide most surface imperfections. Stonewash gives a uniform flat finish which will not discolour, blotch, mottle or powder; which means it can be easily re-coated without the use of expensive “binder sealers” which are required on many other flat finishes. Stonewash may be used internally and externally, and is expected to have a life of 10 years plus.

SUITABLE PAINTING SURFACES

Stonewash is suitable for use on new; cement render, concrete, brick and fibro surfaces. It may also be used over a previously painted surface, where an acrylic paint was used and correct preparation is given. Stonewash is not recommended for use on timber or metal surfaces.

GENERAL DATA

Gloss Selection Guide (when viewing at 60º angle to surface)
Approximately 5 – 10% at 60°

Colour: Tinted to a full range of colours from an extensive range of white and coloured bases.

Application: Use product direct from can, only thin as required. Stonewash may be applied by brush or roller. Due to high solids in this product, it will form a dry film faster than conventional paints and must therefore be applied in a way to compensate for this and to ensure a wet working edge is maintained. The method recommended is the same as that used for textured paints.

Two even coats should be applied to the surface. Never paint when the temperature is below 10° celsius or above 30° celsius, or in extreme humidity.

Coverage: 8-10 square meters per litre per coat. This may vary, depending on the surface.

Thinning: Water – only thin as required.

Drying: Recoat 4 hours on a day of 25ºC and 50% relative humidity, but will be longer in adverse conditions.

Clean Up: Brushes and rollers clean up in water.

SURFACE PREPARATION

The surface must be sound and free of dirt, mould, moss, grease, oil, flaky or powdery paints and any other contaminant which may affect adhesion to the surface.

On new surfaces, a 100% Acrylic Sealer is recommended as a first coat to seal the surface. This will prevent the Stonewash from absorbing into the surface and drying too quickly for the applicator to maintain a wet edge.
